The Collegium Musicum is a small ensemble dedicated to the performance of Renaissance music.

The ethos of the Collegium is to bring together a small group of enthusiasts working in an informal atmosphere to explore unjustly neglected repertory from the 'Golden Age' of polyphony. It works intensively on a small group of pieces each semester, presenting them in one or two concerts at the end of the semester.

Its recent CD 'Madrigalists at Prayer: Sacred Music by the Masters of Sixteenth-Century Italy' (DTR 2014) is widely available commercially and has been received to critcal acclaim. A second disc, of Spanish and Mexican music of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, will be recorded in the Fall.

Angels singing; from The Sforza Book of Hours The group currently comprises 16 singers (four to a part), and we are always keen on hearing new voices. Membership includes students, faculty from other departments, and members of the local community. Although the group is entirely vocal at present, we have worked closely with the Brass Ensemble and recorder groups.

Membership is by audition, by appointment with the conductor. The Collegium can be taken for credit (1 credit, chamber music elective), which is recommended to all student participants.

Tgroup meets on Monday evenings, 7:30-10:00 during the semester. It is directed by Andrew Kirkman, who can be contacted by email with any enquiries (kirkman@rci.rutgers.edu).
